Presenting... our eCourse!
This has been a long time coming for us. Often Nathan and I sit side by side posting to our individual blogs and without knowing what the other is addressing we end up writing about the same thing. But really it's the same and not the same, the nugget is identical, but our approach is always different. I look to him for the science behind our choices, for the intellectual facts of the matters. And he looks to me for the anecdotal, real-life examples from our family. We feel like if you put the two versions together you've got a pretty comprehensive understanding.
Over six weeks we will pick six juicy topics, he'll write what he writes, I'll write what I write, you'll chime in with your thoughts, and together we will create something special.
(We'll also include several personal challenges each week. Homework, if you so choose.)
Parenting on the Same Team is the premise - a way of parenting that involves "working with" versus "doing to". We will cover the basic day to day realities of what that looks like as well as the conceptual and philosophical perspectives that, whether or not we like it, always accompany us for all of our parenting moments.
Topics include but are not limited to:
- Battlefield Moments and Tactics
- Our Underlying Stories and how they help or hinder us.
- Praise
- Punishment
- Empathy
- Acceptance
- Grief and Guilt
- Fun
We hope to not only share our personal parenting style, from top to bottom, but to also invigorate, inspire hope, offer support, and develop a community of like-minded parents we all will enjoy.
Participants can involve themselves intensely- joining in each discussion, asking for advice on specific issues, and posing questions, or as lightly as they like - simply reading along anonymously. Participants will also receive discounts on any of our services.

Am wondering if a single parent could benefit from this course or if it is all about working with your spouse? Is it based at all on Daniel Siegel's attachment work or Foster Kline's Love and Logic work? If not, who is/ are the major theorists who inspire your work?

Hi Suzanne,
Great questions. I think others might want this info as well.
1. The course is perfect for all manner of parents wether single or partnered. The team we refer to is the parent/child.
2. Love and Logic, Alfie Kohn's Unconditional Parenting, and Nurtureshock, among others, offer support for our ideas. We refer to them because they agree with us!
Does this help?
